ABOUT THE PROJECT
THE PROCESS

The gown I designed for Grace’s formal was inspired by the early work of the great Christian Dior. I designed the gown to showcase the stunning gold lace that Grace fell in love with.

To create the classic 1950s silhouette, I began by making a foundation corset and petticoat for Grace.  The gown is of cream and caramel duchesse satin and the lace was applied by hand.

The process of creating Grace’s formal dress was so enjoyable not just for me but for Grace and her mother. As most of the fittings were in the late afternoon, we were all able to enjoy getting to know each other with a glass of champagne. It was beautiful to see the love between mother and daughter shine through a shared experience.
